The Difference

Why patients choose us

Drs. Sofia and Zachary Reagan have experience caring for patients from all backgrounds, from someone who has not been to the dentist in years to someone who has stayed consistent with routine dental care. Their extensive continuing education allows them to provide everything from everyday dental care to advanced, complex treatment, all while maintaining genuine warmth and real respect for your time and comfort. Here is what that looks like in practice.

No. 1

Comprehensive dental care, close to home

What does that mean? Everything from fillings and crowns to root canal therapy, implants, oral surgery, periodontal surgery, and sedation, provided by doctors with extensive postdoctoral training.

No. 2

Two doctors, two strengths

Dr. Zachary Reagan focuses on implants, oral surgery, and sedation. Dr. Sofia Reagan focuses on root canal therapy and restorative care. Together, they offer a broad range of treatment within one family dental practice, allowing many patients to receive care from doctors they already know and trust.

No. 3

Comfort as a discipline

We understand that feeling comfortable at the dentist means something different for everyone. For some, it is a warm welcome, clear communication, and never feeling rushed. For others, it may mean nitrous oxide, mild or moderate oral sedation, or IV sedation. Whatever you need to feel at ease, your comfort is an important part of how we care for you.

Our Care

Comprehensive, from prevention to full-arch restoration

01

Preventive Dentistry

Meticulous cleanings, examinations, and digital imaging for every member of the family, with unrushed visits and honest guidance.

02

Restorative Dentistry

Tooth-colored fillings, crowns, and bridges, planned conservatively and crafted to last, along with traditional full and partial dentures.

03

Implant Dentistry

Single-tooth implants through full-arch restoration, surgically placed and restored in-house by Dr. Zachary Reagan, an Associate Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry.

04

Endodontics

Precise, calm root canal therapy from both Drs. Reagan, preserving natural teeth that might otherwise be lost.

05

Oral Surgery

Surgical extractions, from a single tooth to full-mouth extractions, bone grafting, and implant placement and restorations, performed with experienced hands and a deliberately unhurried approach.

06

Sedation Dentistry

Nitrous oxide, mild and moderate oral sedation, and IV sedation administered by Blue Sky Anesthesia Associates, for anxious patients and longer combined visits.

Your Doctors

Dr. Zachary and Dr. Sofia Reagan

High school sweethearts from Kennebunk and graduates of the University of New England College of Dental Medicine, Dr. Zachary and Dr. Sofia Reagan practice together on Auburn Street, combining implant surgery, endodontics, and sedation with everyday family care. Dr. Anzelc, who founded the practice, continues to see patients alongside them. The Reagans are raising three children in the greater Portland area and caring for the community they grew up in.

Dr. Zachary Reagan, DMD

Dr. Zachary Reagan, DMD, AFAAID

Implants · Surgery · Sedation

A Kennebunk native and Kennebunk High graduate, Dr. Reagan is an Associate Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, with his surgical training anchored by the AAID's rigorous 300-hour MaxiCourse, one of the profession's most comprehensive implant programs, and he is completing his Fellowship with the Academy of General Dentistry. Over years of focused surgical practice he has placed implants ranging from single teeth to full-arch restorations. He holds a moderate sedation license and works closely with Blue Sky Anesthesia Associates to provide IV sedation in a comfortable outpatient setting. Dentistry runs deep in his family: his great-grandmother was among the early women to graduate from Tufts Dental School, making him a fourth-generation caretaker of Maine smiles.

Restorative · Endodontic · Surgical Care

A Kennebunk native whose family has deep roots in the Kennebunk and Portland community, Dr. Sofia Reagan is a graduate of Cheverus High School and the University of New England College of Dental Medicine. She focuses on a practice of comprehensive general dentistry across restorative, endodontic, and surgical care. Within that range she has found a true passion for the quiet, exacting work of saving natural teeth that is found in endodontic therapy. This passion has been supported by continuing education focused on high-quality root canal therapy. For four years she taught operative dentistry and endodontics to first and second year dental students as adjunct faculty at UNE. Patients know her for a calm, deliberate chairside manner.

Dr. Pamela Anzelc, DDS

Dr. Pamela Anzelc, DDS

Founder & Friend

Dr. Anzelc built this practice over 38 years, and she isn't going anywhere just yet. A summa cum laude graduate of the University of Iowa College of Dentistry and a U.S. Air Force veteran, she continues to care for the families she has known for decades, working alongside Dr. Zachary and Dr. Sofia for as long as she's able and willing.

Implant & Full-Arch Solutions

Replacing teeth, from one to a full smile

Whether you are missing a single tooth or ready to replace a full arch, Dr. Zachary Reagan plans and places your implants here in office, from surgery day through the final restoration. His surgical training is anchored by the American Academy of Implant Dentistry's MaxiCourse, a 300-hour postdoctoral program covering implant surgery, bone grafting, and full-arch treatment planning, one of the most comprehensive implant training programs in dentistry.

01

Single Dental Implants

A titanium implant and custom crown that replace one missing tooth permanently, looking and functioning like the tooth it replaces.

02

All-on-4 Implants

A full arch of fixed, natural-looking teeth supported by just four implants. A streamlined path to a complete, stable smile, often in fewer appointments.

03

All-on-6 Implants

Full-arch restoration anchored by six implants for added support and stability, an excellent option when bone volume and bite call for it.

04

Snap-On Dentures

Implant-retained overdentures that snap securely into place, eliminating the slipping and adhesives of traditional dentures while remaining removable.

05

Same-Day Crowns

Using our in-office CEREC technology, some crowns can be designed, milled, and placed in a single visit, with no second appointment and no temporary crown. Not every patient is a candidate; we use CEREC when it fits your individual needs, and a traditional lab-crafted crown when that will serve you better.

06

Bone Grafting & Site Preparation

When an implant site needs more support, we rebuild the foundation first, so your implant has the stable base it needs to last.

II.

A thorough first visit

Your first appointment is comprehensive and unrushed: a full examination, digital imaging, and a real conversation about your history, concerns, and goals.

III.

A plan that is yours

You leave with a clear, prioritized plan and honest guidance on timing and options. No pressure, no surprises, and nothing recommended that we wouldn't choose for our own family.

In dental pain? We reserve time for same-day emergency visits whenever possible. Call the office directly and we will get you seen. We work with most major dental plans, including Delta Dental, offer financing through CareCredit, and welcome patients transferring from other practices. Records transfers are handled entirely by our team.

The Comfort Standard

If dental visits have been difficult for you, begin here

Dental anxiety is common and nothing to apologize for. We offer the full spectrum of sedation, matched thoughtfully to each patient and each procedure, so that needed care actually gets done.

  • Nitrous oxide for lighter visits
  • Mild oral sedation for a gentle level of calm
  • Moderate oral sedation for a deeper level of calm
  • IV sedation administered by Blue Sky Anesthesia Associates*
  • A structured pre-sedation consultation before any sedation visit

*IV sedation is offered following a thorough medical evaluation and review by the treating doctors, to ensure it is appropriate and safe for each patient.

One visit instead of four

For patients who have deferred care, sedation allows us to safely combine treatment that would otherwise span multiple appointments into a single comfortable visit. Tell us your situation candidly when you call. We have heard it all, and we will meet you where you are.

Our Story

A trusted Portland practice, in its next chapter

"Nothing recommended that we wouldn't choose for our own family."

Dr. Pamela Anzelc founded this Auburn Street practice in 1988 and built it on genuine, lasting relationships. In 2026 she passed it to Dr. Zachary and Dr. Sofia Reagan, a husband-and-wife team who grew up in southern Maine and carry four generations of dentistry in the family. They are investing in its next chapter: expanded services, modern technology, and the same personal, unhurried approach.

Today the practice offers more than ever: implant surgery, root canal therapy, oral surgery, and sedation, alongside the preventive and restorative care every family needs. Whether you have been coming here for decades or are looking for a new dental home, you will find a team that is genuinely glad you came.
